Dr. Askari Moyenda
Dr. Moyenda has been an active psychology researcher and professor for more than a decade. His love for psychology is only matched by his passion for law; a passion that was rekindled after his then adolescent son was diagnosed with a serious mental illness, which created numerous encounters with law enforcement. His experience with the judicial system left him feeling helpless and fearful despite doctoral level education in psychology and law. He has since embarked on a journey to help reform how the legal system approaches mental ill defendants. He is a member of the following human rights groups: National Association of Mental Illness (NAMI), American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the National Lawyers Guild (NLG). Dr. Moyenda has wrote numerous articles before becoming engrossed in judicial reform.
